Born Christopher Harris in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, DJ $crilla began his journey into music and entertainment at the age of 15. He has performed all over the country, including being the first rapper to ever perform at the Grand Ole Opry. He has written and performed over 25 rap songs for Fraternities and Sororities Nationwide, including the University of Maryland, Kent State University and UC Irvine. His versatility and appreciation for various genres of music, has led him to open up for Jay Sean, Lloyd, Ryan Cabrera, Petey Pablo and 8 Ball & MJG.
Over the course of his life, music greats such as the late Tupac Shakur, Jay Z, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, and Coldplay have all uniquely impacted $crilla and the way he approaches his music. From his first album, “The Chronicle” in 2001, to the highly buzzed about mixtape “Grand Theft Audio”, $crilla began laying the foundation for his musical transformation. With the release of “Fully Focused”, “My Story:Everybody’s Got One” and his latest album “Me, Myself, And I”, he has begun to blaze a trail for the next generation of rap.
When asked what his goal for his music was, $crilla replied, “I just want to make timeless music.”
